Paul Gamble

Chief Executive Officer

Paul is Chief Executive Officer at 55 Institutional. Previously, he was Executive Vice President at Financial Engines, America’s largest independent investment advisor. Paul helped lead Financial Engines from a financial technology start-up to a publicly traded company. He was general manager for the institutional business with oversight of distribution strategy, sales, institutional marketing, strategic partnerships, implementation and relationship management. Paul has over 25 years of experience in advisory services, financial technology, investment management and retirement. He is a member of the executive and operating committees of the Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association (DCIIA). Paul holds a BA from The College of Wooster and graduated from the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

James Paddon

Chief Operating Officer

James is the Chief Operating Officer at 55 Institutional. Previously, he worked as Chief Financial Officer of Investec US and of Surge Trading Inc. James was Chief Financial Officer of Lava Trading Inc., a trading technology company, from inception through its sale to Citigroup. Prior to Lava, he served as a Managing Director for Global Bank Finance at Chase Manhattan (now JP Morgan Chase). James holds an A.B. from Princeton University and an MBA in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business.

Sachin Shah

Chief Revenue Officer

Sachin is the Chief Revenue Officer at 55 Institutional responsible for revenue generating processes. Previously, Sachin was the Chief Operating Officer at Ada Investments, acquired by 55 in 2016. Prior to joining Ada, Sachin developed and managed the Emerging Manager Fund Allocation platform at RBC Capital Markets. In his first startup, Sachin co-founded Nextgen Trading, LLC – an institutional-facing fin-tech company that was later sold (under the name Carlin Financial Group) to RBC. During this period at Carlin, Sachin led the Prime Services sales team catering to emerging hedge funds. In his earlier years, Sachin held positions at US Trust, RBC and Bank of America where he worked on equity and M&A research. In addition, Sachin volunteers both as the President and Chairman of the Board of TiE NYC (The Indus Entrepreneurs) and as a Mentor for the Accenture Fintech Innovation Lab. He holds a BBA in Finance from The George Washington University.

Gautam is Head of Technology at 55 Institutional where he leads our full-stack technology team of 10 developers. He is a former Principal at Ada Investments. Prior to joining Ada, Gautam was at Room Solutions, a technology consulting firm serving the Insurance sector. He holds an MBA from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad and an undergraduate degree from the University of Mumbai.

Rene Casis

Rene is Head of Trading at 55 Institutional. He is a former investment strategist and senior portfolio manager for iShares at BlackRock. Prior to the BlackRock acquisition of Barclays Global Investors (BGI), Rene was a senior portfolio manager for the institutional index business in San Francisco and head of the Delta-1 trading desk at Barclays Capital in New York. Dr. Vinay Nair

Founder & Chairman

Dr. Vinay Nair, Ph.D. is the Founder & Chairman at 55 Institutional Partners, LLC. Dr. Nair was the Founding Principal at Ada Investment Management LP where he helped form an investment platform and team to design portfolio solutions using financial research and quantitative methods. Prior to founding Ada, Dr.Nair was research director at Old Lane, a hedge fund firm founded by senior executives at Morgan Stanley. Dr. Nair is a visiting professor at The Wharton School and at The Sloan School at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), having previously been a full-time faculty member at The Wharton School, and has also been a visiting professor at The University of Pompeu-Fabra (Barcelona), University of Amsterdam, The Indian School of Business and the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University. His teaching interests are in private equity, investment management, entrepreneurship and fintech. He authored 'Investing for Change' in 2008. Dr. Nair completed his Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the New York University - Leonard N. Stern School of Business with an award for the best thesis. Dr. Nair received a B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT, Madras), where he was awarded the Governor's Gold Medal for curricular and extra-curricular excellence.

Steven is an Advisory Managing Partner and a founding member of Oak Hill Capital Partners. He has served as a Managing Partner of Oak Hill Capital Partners for over 25 years and chaired the Firm’s Investment Committee. While at Oak Hill, Steven was also a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Insurance Partners, LP. Prior to joining Oak Hill in 1990, he was a Managing Director and Co-Head of High Yield Securities at Lehman Brothers and was a Managing Director of its merchant banking group as well as a member of Lehman Brothers’ Investment Committee. Steven holds a BA degree from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

Dr. Matthew Rhodes-Kropf

Matt is a managing partner at Tectonic Ventures as well as a visiting professor at MIT. He has invested in several companies such as Axioma, Rackspace, Avid Radiopharmaceuticals, Xenex, Bidshift, Respicardia and Edusoft. Matt is also a research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Previously a faculty member in the Entrepreneurial Management department at Harvard Business School, he also published many HBS cases. Matt was also formerly a finance professor at Columbia University’s Business School where he taught Entrepreneurial Finance. He holds a BA in computer science and economics and an MA and PhD in economics from Duke University. Matt is currently co-chairman of the advisory board for Duke University’s Graduate School.

Prior to that he served as the CEO of Baan Company, NV and prior to that was a Director at McKinsey & Company, where he worked for 18 years. Tom has served on numerous public, private and non-profit boards. Currently, he serves on the boards of the Kellogg Institute for International Studies at the University of Notre Dame, The F.B.
